Cases and disputes

How to open a case, what the stage rules decide, and what happens to the money while it is open.

A case asks the ProvenReel team to decide something the two sides cannot settle: a missed delivery, content that breaks the brief, a request outside the terms, a cancellation after funding.

Opening a case

From the collaboration workspace: pick the kind, describe what happened and attach evidence. The other side sees your reason and can answer. Money tied to the collaboration is held while the case is open.

Stages

The outcome depends on how far the work had gone:

Stage Typical rule
Before production Funding returned to the brand, minus nothing.
In production Partial payment for work done, rest returned.
After approval Approved lines are paid; the licence stands.
After publication Content stays published; remaining obligations settled by decision.
Rights active Licence continues or is ended by decision; refunds limited to unused periods.

The exact rules are shown on the case itself.

Decision

A person reads the evidence from both sides and records an outcome with its reason. The outcome moves money according to the stage rules and closes the case; both sides are notified. An appeal is a new case of kind appeal and is reviewed by a different operator.
